In 1988 I obtained my PhD in Groningen on the subject of Adverse reactions to cosmetics. Supervisors were Prof. dr. Johan Pieter Nater and Prof. dr. Erik Bleumink. Dr. Pieter-Jan Coenraads served as referee. The PhD Committee consisted of Prof. dr. M.N.G. Dukes, Prof. dr. H. Wesseling and Prof. dr. E. Young. You can read all about it in the following pages. Of course there are many images and the necessary anecdotes are not missing to spice things up. Somewhat longer pieces of text are made more appetizing with a number of cartoons.
